Finished The Necklace

I think this was overall a good book. It left a good feeling at the end and makes you wish that you could affect change in your community and make new friends....not to mention getting to wear an expensive necklace. Do you think the woman who moved away and dropped out of the group missed out? Do you think you would have tried to stay in the group or would you have dropped out when tensions mounted? See you guys on July 2nd at 6:00pm (Thursday) at the Library!

3rd Quarter of The Necklace

At this point in the book, I began to wonder if the author really was writing about each woman. The book seemed to be poorly divided by chapter, with each woman having a chapter dedicated to her, but that didn't really pan out in a couple of chapters. I understand that some women can be private and maybe didn't want to share, but maybe the book should have been divided differently? Comments please!

Second Quarter

I find that this part is still largely about Jonell. At this point in the book, I am still enjoying it and interested in finding out what happens next. I have already finished the book, and won't give anything away yet..........

First Quarter of The Necklace

I am enjoying this book probably more than I thought I would. I have really gotten interested in the women's lives and the excitement surrounding Jonell is contagious. I have begun a list of questions for the meeting on July 2nd. I am surprised by the honesty of the women in the first 3 chapters. You get a look at the good, bad and even the ugly parts of their lives at the time that Jewelia came into it.

November - True Crime
December - Non-fiction
January - Autobiography

If I have left anything out, please let me know. For the July 2nd meeting, please bring a fiction title that you would like to read in August. Those of you who cannot make the July meeting, please comment online prior to the meeting and we will include you in the discussion.
